About

What is holotropic breathwork?

Holotropic breathwork is a safe method for entering into a non-ordinary state of consciousness for personal growth. It was developed by Stanislav and Christina Grof after psychedelics were made illegal. The three parts making up a holotropic breathwork experience are preparation for the session, experiencing the session, and lastly integration of the session. Holotropic breathwork may be done in an individual (but always under the supervision of a qualified HB facilitator) or group setting. If done in a group setting, participants will be paired and will experience breathwork as a breather and a sitter (there are two breathwork sessions during a typical workshop, and participants switch roles for the sessions), always under the supervision of a trained facilitation team. The breather enters into a non-ordinary state by breathing at a faster and deeper rate while listening to evocative music. If tension is felt in the body, the breather can ask for support with bodywork. Holotropic breathwork is done in a supportive environment to create a safe container where inner exploration and healing can occur.

All facilitators have gone through an extensive and rigorous training program to become certified in all aspects of holotropic breathwork.

Testimonies

Holotropic breathwork has helped thousands of people over the last four decades, with a wide variety of problems. Here is what some people have to say about it:

“The breathwork continues to evolve my path, I have enjoyed looking at and reflecting on the mandala, not adding to it though. I feel greatful to have had you hold space for me to explore these multi-faceted energies. I have found that making time to be restful and practice of self-kindness has helped me integrate some of the powerful lessons from my journey.
Thanks for offering this practice to the community, your work is needed and appreciated.” M.F.

“I was processing a lot of things afterwards. Seems like as soon as things come up I am able to work through them very quickly with deep insights.” S.F.

“I really enjoyed the holotropic breathwork experience and got a lot out of it. I have already noticed a real  positive difference in my life and hopefully that will continue to grow.” J.G.
